The Gourmet Chef is the realization of my dream to marry my love of cooking with my love of people.
For the past 15 years I have worked in the kitchens of 5 Star Hotels and trendy fine dining restaurants both locally and abroad attaining the status of Executive Chef.
Now I would like to share my creative culinary skills with you and in doing so make your next function a truly memorable occasion.
I was classically trained in French, Italian and modern Pacific Rim cuisine. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity of working in some of Cape Town's finest five star hotels and restaurants ..... Balduccis, Simply Salmon, The Bay Hotel, Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, The Polo Club and Forty Ate.
As a restaurant Chef, I missed out on being a part of the guests dining experience. The solution seemed obvious ... bring the restaurant to your function.
You can now enjoy excellent cuisine cooked by me, in your home or venue of your choice.

Our Services
In Consultation with you I will create a menu to suit your taste, and the theme of your choice.
Whether you are planning an intimate dinner or a large function, allow me to style your menu.
- Meeting the client prior to the function to discuss their requirements, budget, menu and taste styles
- Checking the cooking facilities and equipment at the venue (I provide my own pots, pans, kitchen smalls etc)
- For set menus, I have my own elegant starter, main and dessert plates.
- For cocktail parties and buffet menus I have stylish platters, shooter glasses, small bowls, Chinese spoons etc.
- Sonje will arrange any Hiring, Decor, Bar or Staffing requirements.

30th Birthday Dinner
Ultimately it is important for you to know, that I was hugely impressed by
the evening. Sonje was incredible and everyone commented on the added
service she provided, the food met and bettered all my high expectations and
those of our Guests and the Waiter and Barman could not have been more
perfect, they were professional, well mannered and Communicative.
I would like to thank you for going that extra mile, for hearing our request
and for delivering absolutely everything that we could have wanted.

I cannot thank you enough for making my day so wonderful. I was totally relaxed knowing that my Birthday brunch was in your capable hands. The food was just perfect and beautifully presented and the Guests had a wide variety
of food to choose from. I particularly appreciated the freshly made scrambled eggs and chives because there are few things more awful than rubbery and dry scrambled eggs! The Waiters were efficient yet unobtrusive and joy oh joy, my Kitchen was spotless when you left. Everything was just
perfect.

Mark and Linda's Wedding
You guys did such an AWESOME SPLENDID job! The food was brilliant and every one we speak to has commented on how nice the food was. Your attention to detail was amazing and we noticed how both of you were checking plates even after the waiters had taken them. Photographers go to a few weddings and our photographer actually said that he thought this was the best food he had ever had at a wedding!
Sonje, you were spot on with the number of waiters, I never saw one of them hanging around and they all worked the whole evening!
Not sure how things went in the kitchen but for us it seemed that everything ran perfectly and without a hitch! We had such an amazing day and are so grateful! It was so nice dealing with you right from the start and so refreshing to speak to people that said we want to do this so lets make it work, we loved the positive feeling you guys gave us.

When we found Mark and Sonje we realized that we found the crème de la crème of cuisine cooking and events management. The Gourmet Chef made our Wedding day a day to be remembered. The food was immaculate, the taste was breath taking, the presentation was excellent and the service was professional. I loved the fact that there was so much attention to detail and that we did not have to ask twice for anything. The kitchen was left spotlessly clean and the staff were polite and friendly. Two and half years later and we are still raving about how special the day played out.
Mark truly deserves the title Gourmet Chef. Every dish was made to perfection.
Having an efficient supervisor like Sonje coordinate and arrange the logistics is a must. It took a load of stress and worry off our shoulders.
We want to thank both of you and the Gourmet chef team for a spectacular day. |
